Position Summary

Nextbridge is seeking a highly skilled Power BI Developer to support the design, development, optimization, and governance of enterprise business intelligence solutions. This role will be responsible for creating scalable data models, semantic layers, paginated reports, and self-service reporting capabilities that enable business users to securely access trusted data across the organization.

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Power BI semantic models, DAX, Power Query, data modeling best practices, paginated reporting, and Microsoft Fabric/Power BI Service administration concepts. This position will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and analytics leaders to deliver reliable reporting solutions while maintaining strong data governance and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

Power BI Development

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise Power BI reports, dashboards, scorecards, and analytical solutions.
• Create highly optimized Power BI semantic models that support scalable self-service reporting across multiple business functions.
• Develop reusable datasets and semantic models that serve as trusted organizational data sources.
• Implement advanced DAX calculations, measures, KPIs, and business logic that is mindful of calculation burdens & resources.

Paginated Reporting

• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI Paginated Reports for sales, operational, financial, regulatory, and executive reporting requirements.
• Create pixel-perfect reports suitable for printing, PDF distribution, and scheduled delivery.
• Optimize report performance and ensure accurate rendering across delivery formats.

Data Modeling & Semantic Layer Management

• Develop clean, governed, and well-documented star-schema data models.
• Build semantic models that support multiple reporting use cases while minimizing duplication of business logic.
• Establish relationships, hierarchies, calculation groups, and standardized measures that promote consistency across reporting assets.
• Ensure semantic models are designed for long-term scalability and maintainability.

Self-Service Analytics Enablement

• Create and manage governed workspaces that allow employees to access trusted data assets appropriate to their business roles.
• Implement security models including Row-Level Security (RLS) and workspace access controls.
• Enable business users to create their own reports and analyses from approved semantic models while maintaining data governance standards.
• Provide documentation and training materials for self-service reporting users.

Excel Integration & Data Accessibility

• Develop semantic models that can be easily consumed through Microsoft Excel using Analyze in Excel and live semantic model connections.
• Ensure business users can pull clean, trusted, and performant datasets directly from approved Power BI semantic models.
• Support Excel PivotTables, ad hoc analysis, and financial reporting requirements through governed semantic connections.
• Troubleshoot and optimize Excel-to-Power BI connectivity and performance issues.

Data Governance & Quality

• Maintain data accuracy, consistency, and reporting standards across all BI assets.
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to validate source data quality.
• Establish documentation standards for datasets, reports, measures, and business definitions.
• Promote best practices around enterprise reporting governance and data stewardship.
• Create relevant SOP’s, procedures, protocols, and definition matrices for consistent data definition clarity and process documentation.

Performance Optimization

• Monitor and improve report, dataset, and semantic model performance.
• Optimize DAX calculations, data refresh schedules, and model storage strategies.
• Identify opportunities to reduce report complexity and improve user experience.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). Master’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years of hands-on Power BI development experience and/or experience designing enterprise-scale semantic models and data warehouses.
• Strong experience with Power BI Service, workspaces, deployment processes, and governance practices.
• Demonstrated experience building and maintaining Power BI Paginated Reports.
• Advanced knowledge of DAX, Power Query (M), and dimensional modeling techniques.
• Strong understanding of star schema and enterprise data modeling best practices.
• Experience implementing Row-Level Security (RLS) and workspace security.
• Experience enabling self-service analytics using governed semantic models.
• Experience supporting Excel connectivity to Power BI semantic models and datasets.
• Strong SQL development and query optimization skills.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with Microsoft Fabric.

· Familiarity with healthcare, medical device, manufacturing, or regulated industry environments.

· Knowledge of data governance frameworks and metadata management.
